DEF Transfer System – DEF-PRO 5000/6000 – FAQ

How to get the best use of TECALEMIT’s DEF-Pro Hi-Flow Transfer Smart Packages

This is a question about our bulk Urea/Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) System transfer systems that recently came up and wanted to discuss in depth to shed some light on the subject.
Hello friends!!  When you are discussing a new project with a potential customer concerning the transfer of Diesel Exhaust Fluid /Urea with one of our systems; the  DEF PRO 6000™ or the DEF PRO 5000™ , it is imperative to understand the full scope of work.  For instance, the basics of the systems such as GPM’s, electric vs gas driven, length of hoses, etc., gives us only half the story.  Don’t get me wrong.. . that information is needed. However, with more complex projects, we need to look deeper and understand how the system will be ultimately used.
Let’s jump in! –  Let’s start by explaining the electrical basics of the DEF PRO 6000™  bulk urea / diesel exhaust fluid transfer system. The majority our systems are fitted with AC  pumps with either a 110v or 240v power requirement.  If you are considering placing one of our urea / diesel exhaust fluid skid systems on a delivery truck, making it work from a DC power supply source; then a few items will need to be looked at.  One of those items is the power electric cable, the gage, and length.  Why is this important?  Well, because the longer the electric cable powering up the system; the higher gauge it will need to be due to power losses.  This is one of many small items that need to be taken into account and therefore it is important to try understand the complete system scope. Moving on, if you find yourself at the point where an inverter needs to be in place to power up the urea transfer system; then you may want to look into a Pure Sine Inverter. We can start by answering, what is an inverter? An inverter is commonly known as a device whose main purpose is to convert DC power or Direct Current Power, typically found in batteries; into AC power or Alternating Current Power. So, what can you do with an inverter? Well, for starters the power that is stored in a battery for example; can be used to power up other devices that would typically require AC power.  Furthermore, we need to clarify that there are many types of inverters and the one that we are covering here is the Pure Sine Inverter.  Power from DC to AC can vary and we can explain this from a rough or choppy sine wave to a smooth sine wave.

The commonly found choppy sine wave modified inverter will generate a simple wave that when illustrated looks more square then the standard smooth pure sine wave.

It is obviously more difficult to produce a smooth AC current than the standard modified sine inverter .  However, you can still power up most consumer electronic devices with a modified sine inverter.  It is a different story with industrial equipment, which we are about to learn.  It is different when you are being faced with sensitive and expensive devices.  If we take a look at the pump of the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)/ Urea transfer skid system, the first thing that will happen is that the pump will spike amperage at start up, and will rely on the smooth sine wave to start up and keep working properly.

So, in order to maximize energy output, it is important to select an inverter with these points in mind: A) Hi efficiency B) Low stand by losses C) High Surge Capacity  D) Low harmonic distortion.

One of the most apparent differences between a Modified Sine wave inverter and a Pure Sine Inverter., aside the  fact that a Pure Wave Since can operate sensitive electronic devices requiring high quality waveform with little harmonic distortion, is that they have an excellent high surge capacity.  What does that mean?  Simple, it means that they can exceed their rated wattage for a very short amount of time. This will help your pump motor to start without a hiccup, even while drawing up to six times its rated wattage during startup.

So, remember to understand the complete project scope and how the system is ultimately going to be used on the field.  Check with our internal technical team, and also check with your installation team; and don’t be afraid to ask the hard questions.  We will let our experienced team provide you the support for a smooth start up.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us- TECALEMIT INC.

TECALEMIT Gives Thanks

Here we are upon another year entering history, 2013; and Thanksgiving is is one of those special holidays that mark the beginning of our great holiday season.
The festivities, the hustle and bustle of retail, the surprises and expectations are all bundled in together during every holiday season.
But thanksgiving is indeed special day because there are no gifts, no pressure to dive into retail madness, and no dogma.

The special ingredient here is people; teams and individuals, helping other people. If the word rush had a different meaning, it should be defined and a priceless moment when individuals help other people knowing that the recipient(s) cannot pay you back.
The meaning associated with that feeling creates purpose, direction, and it defines who you are at that moment.

Here at TECALEMIT INC, we strive to give something back every year, to teach and produce tangible and intangible items that produce value, in hope to make your work life easier.
This year is no different, as we get ready to say goodbye to a great 2013….we are simply humbled by the great distributorship following that has emerged.

– If you have gone out of your way to educate a customer without any expectation in return, we thank you.

– If you have gone out of your way to assist a customer knowing that they buy from your competitor, we thank you.

– If you have gone out of your way to answer an emergency call from one of your customers, we thank you.

– If you have gone out of your way to become a resource for your customers, we thank you.

– Last, if you have simply said “thank you for your business” genuinely, and selflessly; we thank you for making a difference in helping someone else succeed.

In today’s fast pace world, let’s not forget why we are here. Its not always easy and or fun, but it is of the most importance and it matters to someone.

From our extended TECALEMIT family: Flensburg Germany, Mumbai India, Sheffield UK, Shanghai China, and Houston USA.

We’d like to wish you a warm Thanksgiving holiday.

DEF Mini Bulk Storage Tank - DEF-Pro All in One

DEF PRO All in One™ DEF storage tank system- Part II

DEF Storage Tank Systems for any climate

We are back on the blog picking up the topic for the All In One™ DEF storage tank systems.

If you have not read the first entry, part I, we discussed the basic elements of what an All in One™ is. Part I illustrated a quick view of the options, a look behind the scenes on the manufacturing and assembly, and the people behind it. If you missed it, you can take a look at it here, click here.

So, what we’d like to do next is highlight the details to help you understand what each package consists of, along with accessories, and specialty items.  You see, we get a lot of questions on these topics so what a better way to share these questions here on this platform.  It’s just how we do things!!

To start, let me walk through how our customers begin the RFQ process.

There are two standard models, defined as the summer package and winter package. You will find some components associated with each package as a standard item; keep in mind that you decide what you need and how you want the package configured. In other words, we want to be flexible to accommodate exactly what you need.

Summer Package(s)

The DEF PRO All In One™ summer package is a fully assembled out of the box system used for the safe storage and handing of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).  We get questions about site assembly or any further electrical work need on these units.  These DEF storage tank packages are plug and plug, ready to go, simple and easy.  If you are on the southern belt, where we see snow every 15 years, then the summer package is for you.

  • Hornet W85 Hybrid pump

Now we get into what we all love to do….We listen to your needs and offer solutions. For instance, in this set up; the DEF PRO All In One™ needed a system that would help track users and vehicles. TECALEMIT’s Wonderbox (fluid inventory management system) was the perfect answer to help secure transactions.

These same principles applies in many levels here guys. Sure, you see many items that are featured on our website, our Pinterest Boards, Facebook, etc.. but what about those instances when you are needing something special, something that resides in your imagination; this is where our years of innovation experience comes into play. If you don’t see it, don’t be shy to ask about it and approach us.

Winter Package(s)

Looking at the DEF PRO All In One™ DEF winter package tank system, the standard items that you will find on this package are the following, which are in addition to the summer package:

The other upgrades available on these packages are:
